Fribourg driving school: our mission

Diversified programs for all learners

In Town's brand new center offers a variety of driving courses tailored to different levels of experience. Whether you're a beginner looking to get your license for the first time, a seasoned driver looking to improve your skills, or simply someone who wants to catch up on the new rules of the road, In Town has created programs just for you.

Courses include practical driving lessons, theoretical discussions and special modules for complex driving situations. These programs are designed not only to prepare learners for the driving test, but also to provide them with the skills they need to become responsible, confident drivers on the road.

Road safety at the heart of training

Road safety is a top priority at In Town. In addition to traditional driving courses, the driving school offers road safety awareness sessions. These sessions focus on the importance of individual responsibility on the road, handling emergency situations, and understanding the driving rules specific to the Fribourg region.

This gives learners the opportunity to develop an in-depth understanding of road safety, helping to create a community of conscious, rule-abiding drivers. This holistic approach aims to reduce road accidents and promote responsible driving in the region.

Modern facilities for an optimal learning experience

In Town's new center also stands out for its modern facilities and state-of-the-art equipment. Well-equipped classrooms, specially designed practice areas and innovative training technologies create an environment conducive to learning. Learners can enjoy an immersive teaching experience, seamlessly combining theory and practice.

The latest-generation driving simulators available in the center offer a realistic experience that complements on-road lessons. These simulators enable learners to familiarize themselves with different driving conditions, including emergency situations, without exposing them to potential road hazards.

Driver's license Fribourg : The steps

Registration and first-aid course (samaritan course): Before you can register for the theory test, you must take a first aid course. This course is compulsory and generally lasts 10 hours. Its aim is to teach first aid in the event of a road accident.

Sight test: An eye test is required to ensure that the applicant's visual acuity meets the requirements for driving a vehicle. This test can be carried out by an optician or ophthalmologist.

Theoretical examination: After passing the vision test and taking the first aid course, the candidate can register for the theory test. This exam covers traffic rules, signals, road safety and other knowledge required for driving.

Application for a learner's permit: Once you've passed the theory test, you can apply for your learner's permit. This permit is required to begin practical training behind the wheel.

Practical training and awareness courses: Practical training is carried out with a certified driving instructor. The number of hours of training varies according to the candidate's skills. At the same time, the candidate must take a two-phase awareness course covering aspects such as accident prevention, eco-driving and behavior in the event of an accident.

Practical test: After completing the practical training and awareness course, the candidate can register for the practical test. This test assesses the candidate's ability to drive safely and autonomously in different traffic situations.

Probationary driver's license: Once the practical test has been passed, the driver receives a probationary license for a period of 3 years. During this period, the driver must take additional compulsory courses (two-phase courses) to convert the probationary license into a permanent license.

Permanent driver's license: Once all the requirements have been met, including the probationary period and additional courses, the driver can obtain a full driving licence.

It is important to note that these steps may vary slightly from canton to canton. In addition, special provisions may apply to special categories of license (motorcycle, truck, etc.). We advise you to contact the relevant cantonal authorities for precise, up-to-date information.
